Developments in the health sector are increasingly emphasizing the need for health managers. In this context, the Department of Health Management, located within the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences at Mehmet Akif Ersoy University, started admitting students in the 2014-2015 academic year. The aim of the department is to train proactive health managers who can perform planning, organizing, executing, coordinating and controlling functions in the health sector in accordance with current needs; to contribute scientifically to the field of health management. The language of instruction of the department, which has a duration of 4 years, is Turkish. Students who successfully complete the Department of Health Management and achieve program competencies obtain a "Bachelor's" degree in the field of Health Management science and receive the title of Health Manager.
The Department of Health Management; continues its educational and instructional activities with its expert academic staff in the Main Science Branches of Management and Organization in Health Institutions, Accounting and Financing in Health Institutions, Health Economics and Policy, Performance and Efficiency in Health Institutions and Basic Health Services. The department's education and training program prepares its graduates for the working environment by paying attention to the balance of theory and practice. Emphasis is placed on practices aimed at enhancing the qualifications of students through various conferences, trainings and certificate programs. It provides opportunities for education in multiple foreign languages such as English, Arabic, Russian. With its openness to innovation and change, it takes into account the expectations of the health sector from health managers, adopting a student-friendly approach. In addition, it also offers postgraduate education opportunities with its Health Management master's programs with and without thesis.
Graduates of the Department of Health Management take up positions in public or private sector institutions and organizations. Graduates; have the opportunity to work in departments such as accounting and finance, human resources, marketing, quality and patient relations of health institutions. They have the opportunity to work in various public institutions such as the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Treasury and Finance, the Ministry of Labor and Social Security and their affiliated institutions in positions such as inspectorship, expertise, assistant expertise. There are job opportunities in institutions such as private and voluntary organizations providing health services at different levels, health-related units of press and broadcasting institutions, Turkish Armed Forces, drug and medical supply companies, insurance companies. In addition, graduates can be employed as academic staff in universities provided they meet the necessary conditions.
